New Salem Section Quabbin Deer Hunt

New Salem's largest racked animal December 5th 2002

The Northeast Big Buck Club scored the above Buck at 204 1/8. 
They say it is the #1 Typical  for the state. A new Massachusetts Record!
This may be the largest animal taken in 2002 for the Northeast.

Un-official Boone and Crocket Score was 193 3/8 

9 Point, 206 Pound Buck taken by Randy Horne of Athol Ma was the Heaviest of 212 deer taken in  the Petersham segment of the Quabbin Deer Hunt (I stand corrected).

10 point, 140 pound Buck taken by Brian MacVeigh of Stephentown New York

8 point, 167 pound Buck taken by Gary Morin of Hardwick Ma

8 point, 152 pound Buck taken by Dan McMenemy of Barre Ma

Great appreciation to DCR staff Biologists Dan Clark and Paula Packard who continued to check the record number of deer as darkness descended on Quabbin.
This 8 point, 166 pound Buck was taken by friend and Athol Firefighter Tom Lozier a fitting end to a very successful hunt

 I missed photographing many of the excellent animals on one of the busiest sessions to have worked in a long time. 
The success of this program requires everyone to act in a courteous and sportsmanlike manner at all times. Thanks to all the hunters whose cooperation helped the DCR staff make this years hunt safe and effective.
