Hot sunny weather (104 F), Several Fiery Skippers were waiting for us as we parked at the motel in Watsonville. California Towhee, Scrub Jay and lots of Hummingbirds visiting the flowers... a nice start to the trip...

The Kern River Valley was fabulous:
Clark's Grebe, Nuttall's Woodpecker, and a late day run to the China Lake Region for LeConte's Thrasher. My Best butterfly day yet. The highlands above Lake Isabelle were full of fast moving butterflies. Like this Painted Lady right

September 20th A big Travel day today as we head from China Lake back to Watsonville for yet another Monterey Bay boat trip tomorrow. But not before a fast start at the Galileo Hill off 20 Mule Team Road
