North Quabbin Adventure 8-16-2003

Steve Leonard captured this nice image of the upper side of a Gray Hairstreak

Mating Canada Darners were one of the many highlights of the Lovely summer day at Quabbin

This rather neat dragonfly known as the Wandering Glider is found worldwide. Rather uncommon in North Quabbin this is the first specimen I'd actually netted.

I'm taking a moment to show off the Wandering Glider to the gang

OK so I left my camera in the car and Sue Cloutier was kind enough to share this photo of a Leonard's Skipper with us. This is one of my favorite butterflies and we found 5 of them near Orange Airport on 8-16-2003. The sad thing is Leonard's is one of the last butterflies of the season to emerge and signals the beginning of the end of the butterfly season.
